“The Night of Counting the Years (The Mummy) المومياء…
Egyptian critics consistently list “The Night of Counting the Years” (also known as “The Mummy”) as one of the most important Egyptian films, and perhaps the most important one, but it remains largely unknown, both within Egypt and elsewhere, despite winning a number of awards at European film festivals. Set in 1881, on the eve of British colonial rule, it is based on a true story: an Upper Egyptian clan had been robbing a cache of mummies near the village of Qurna, and selling the artifacts on the black market. After a conflict within the clan, one of its members went to the police, helping the Antiquities Service find the cache.

Who Is She – Part 1 (Egyptian – Slow)
This is the same collection of Who Is She. It’s recorded this time in the Egyptian Arabic; the way people speak on the streets of Cairo. The text provided can only be viewed as an assistance to understand the recorded material, because the spoken language is not meant to be written. I encourage you to listen first to the standard language to become familiar with the story and the language, in this way you’ll be able to trace the differences and make up your own rules!

The other 50% of the vocabulary is not used in the other course, and lets you learn even more language used in different kinds of daily situations. It doesn’t matter if you are a man or a woman. Both courses are for anyone who wants to learn how to do and talk about daily things in English.

“Sklepy cynamonowe” – Bruno Schulz
“Sklepy cynamonowe” to pierwszy, debiutancki cykl opowiadań Brunona Schulza, które pierwotnie były postscriptami w listach do Debory Vogel i Władysława Riffa. Utwory te, pisane poetycką prozą, są fantastycznym przetworzeniem realiów przedwojennego miasteczka galicyjskiego, w którym dostrzec można podobieństwo do Drohobycza, rodzinnego miasta pisarza. Zbiór, w sposób wizyjny i oniryczny, opowiada dzieje rodziny kupieckiej, którym to dziejom Schulz nadał walory mityczne. (Summary by Mateusz Wycislik.)
